Missions of Love, Vol. 1

Missions of Love, Vol. 1 by Ema Tōyama

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“It’s time for love. Secret cell phone novelist vs. the most popular boy in school. A mission of love for absolute servitute.”

Not as cheesy as it sounds!

Just read the first manga of this and I love it! It’s different and the characters aren’t very cookie cutter. I don’t like most highschool dramas but this one is pretty good! Even if a guy is a jerk blackmail is creepy but its a great story. I love how these two are always trying to trump eachother with their best wild cards. The humour is subtle and the drama is balanced. Its a great one!

Yukina is a highschool student and a “cell phone” novel writer (Chapters fit in a J text) with no love experience. Her fanbase wants her to add romance to her stories. She sets off on a mission to get experience. As luck would have it, the “nicest” in school becomes her victim via blackmail. She is the only girl who has never asked him out and finds his notebook full of scheming to get girls. If he doesn’t submit to her every romantic request she will reveal his secret. An all out battle for power ensues as the one girl that doesn’t want Shigure, “nice” guy and class president, is the girl with the ice cold stare. Infact she feels no guilt in using him to write her novels. May the best player win!

I’m really addicted to this one. I dislike most slife of life and shojo manga but this is excellent. It has just enough drama to be believable.
